GABLE is a terrace of houses along a wooded street, their roofs steep and gabled and stepping down the slope. Inside, the houses are warm and quiet — timber ceilings, linen, green panelling, attic bedrooms beneath the roof — and the same building holds an office floor in colour and a pale lobby.
