VERDE is drawn in green marble, pale timber and travertine. The marble is cut into the chimney wall of the living room, an island wrapped by a travertine table, a bar beneath a light of glass beads and a tasting table in the wine room. The lower floor is given to the rooms a house is lived in at night — the bar, the wine room, the gym and a cinema — and is reached by a stair over a bed of planting.

Living

The living room is long and open to the garden. The green marble chimney stands between timber and stone, and the kitchen island is set into the same room, with a travertine table drawn around it.

Dining

The dining room is a room of light: glass globes hung low over a long table, linen at the windows, and niches cut into the wall to hold a few objects each.

Lower Level

Below, the house turns inward. A bar of green marble under a ribbon of light, a stair descending over planting, a lightwell, the wine room behind glass, the gym and the cinema.

Material Register

Travertine is cut into basins, onyx is lit from behind, green marble is grooved, framed and set on pedestals. The baths and the powder room are where the materials are seen closest.
