MODERN BARNHOUSE is a house of gabled volumes in weathered timber and glass, set into a planted slope. The roofs are glazed at their ends, a long pool runs beside the house, and the courts between the volumes are sunken and planted — one around a tree beneath an oculus, another around a fire.
Approach
The house is reached between its volumes: timber walls, a glazed gable over the entrance, a sculpture in the court.
Pool
The pool runs the length of the house, with a pavilion of timber and an open fire at its end.
Courts
Between the volumes are courts sunk into the ground: a tree beneath an oculus, seating around a fire, a walkway between walls of glass.
